I came across a couple of images about Pokemon and the message that the images were trying to send were really funny in my opinion.  When Pokemon first started off there was 151 original Pokemon. As a little kid I knew all the Pokemon's names and what not.  When I got older and grew out of the Pokemon fad the number of Pokemon kept growing to what is now 649.  I think that  is a little ridiculous for my taste.  This image is saying the same thing, that there are too many Pokemon.  There are quite a few variations to this meme and the thing that I found most interesting is the use of other cartoons that promote the same idea.  Other variations of this meme had images of Spongebob and the Ninja Turtles complaining about the growing number of Pokemon.  I just think that use of different cartoons to call out Pokemon is funny.

  1. I completely agree with you and this cartoon! I think the creator of this cartoon was smart to use meme based faces (They look similar to the rage faces that are extremely viral currently on the Internet) and combine them with Pokemon, a subject that reaches a very large target audience. I believe these two ideas put together provide a good basis for other iterations. I also knew every single name of the original 151 Pokemon and although I was not one of the GameBoy crazy children I was in love with the Pokemon show. I agree that it’s a bit ridiculous that Pokemon has expanded to over 600. It just illustrates how hard creators try to keep their idea afloat. Sometimes people need to understand that it’s time for something to fade away. In conclusion, I think this cartoon is hilarious and does an effective job conveying a somewhat harsh point in a humorous way.
